One:    Jesus has risen!

All:      He has risen indeed!

One:    Sorrow has been replaced with the joy of resurrection.

All:      What joy! Jesus lives!

*Opening Hymn      “Christ the Lord Has Risen Today”                #130

Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!

Let all people and angels say: Alleluia!

Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!

Sing ye heavens, and earth reply: Alleluia!

*Opening Prayer

God of life and light,

Our sorrow has turned to dancing,

Our grief has become joy,

The tomb is empty, and Jesus lives.

We give thanks for the gift of life amid sadness,

We pray that life will come from this time of pandemic.

Jesus lives and so shall we. Amen.

     *Prayer of Dedication

We give you thanks that you have given to us the greatest gift of all, the gift of your risen Son. We give thanks for new life that comes from the resurrection. Bless our offerings this day. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Communal Meal at Home

  • This year we are not able to have Communion together at church. Instead you are invited to put some bread on a nice plate and something to drink in a pretty glass or cup. You may wish to set the plate and cup on a tablecloth with a napkin.
  • Bow your head in prayer. Give thanks to God who creates and gives us all good gifts. Give thanks for our Savior Jesus Christ who died on the cross, rose from the dead and will come again. Give thanks for the Holy Spirit who sustains us.
  •  Remember the people that you love and cannot be with in person today. Remember all those who are struggling due to the Corona virus and more. Remember to pray for yourself, because Jesus loves you very much.
  • Take your bread, bless your bread, give thanks for having bread to eat. Break your bread and share it. (If you are alone, imagine that you are sharing your bread with others.)
  • Say these words of Jesus, “Take, eat; this is my body.” Then eat your bread.
  • Take your drink and remember that Jesus gave of himself so that we all may have new life in him. Drink deeply of Jesus’ lifegiving water/wine/juice/milk while giving thanks to God.
